Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive treatment where a patient breathes 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber to increase oxygen levels in the body. The therapy is used to treat conditions like decompression sickness, severe infections, certain wounds, carbon monoxide poisoning, and radiation injuries. During a session, which typically lasts about two hours, a patient breathes oxygen through a mask or hood while the chamber is pressurized, helping to promote healing by stimulating new blood vessel growth, enhancing white blood cell function, and reducing inflammation.
